WICHITA -- Junior Dustin Garza has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week for the week following his first-place performance at the VCU Shootout.

Garza posted the best all-round performance of his colleigate career at the VCU Shootout, opening with back-to-back personal best round scores of 66 before tacking on a 69 in the final round to achieve his personal-best three-round score of 201. The score shattered Garza's previous best score of 209 (70-68-71), which he sot at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate in the Spring of 2007. The Shockers finished fifth as a team in the event.

This is Garza's second Golfer of the Week honor this season. He will shoot for a third award Monday when he tees off at the Wolfpack Invitational in Reno, Nev.
