WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State baseball will be hosting its
annual Alumni Weekend Oct. 8-9 with a bit of a new twist.
The golf tournament will be held on Fri., Oct. 8 with two
separate tee times (morning/afternoon) to not only accommodate more golfers,
but to avoid potential logjams on certain holes. The morning golfers will go off at 7:30 a.m., while the
afternoon golfers will tee off at 1:30 p.m. Lunch and dinner will be served and the prizes will still be
in the evening in the All-American Club.
In addition to the bigger and better golf event, Saturday's
festivities will be must-see also.
At noon there will be a celebrity softball game featuring local and
regional celebrities, as well as the best Shocker baseball players in the
program's history. At 2 p.m. will
be a Shocker Fall World Series game between the Black and the Gold.
Later in the evening will be a dinner and auction in the
Preferred Health Systems Multi-Purpose Center featuring former Shocker
All-American and 2007 American League Manager of the Year Eric Wedge as the
keynote speaker.
Proceeds from the golf tournament and auction will mostly go
to the Carl Hall Fund with the rest for Shocker travel costs.
