WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State women's tennis team will
head to the Drake Invite, Sept. 14-16 at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center in Des
Moines, Iowa.
It will be the first tournament of the season for the
Shockers, who will look to build off the success of last season. A strong
returning junior class of Montse Blasco Fernandez, Veronika Blaskova, Satjaporn
Mahajaroenkul and Carla Venticinque will look to lead the Shocker women. Also
returning is Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year from 2012, Lucia
Kovalova.
Blaskova and Kovalova will be looking to start the season
off on the right foot after being ranked as the No. 32 doubles team in the
nation last week by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in their preseason
rankings.
The Shockers also welcome three freshman newcomers to the
team for the season. Rebecca Pedrazzi, Masa Smic, and Summer Schlotterback will
look to add depth to the Shocker lineup.
Creighton, Iowa State, Nebraska-Omaha, North Dakota,
Northern Illinois and South Dakota will join the Shocker women at the
tournament.
