WICHITA, Kan.- The No. 62 Wichita State women's tennis team
will play their first home match of the season on Monday, January 21 against
No. 40 Oklahoma State at Wichita Country Club.
Led by former Shocker head coach Chris Young, the Cowgirls
will be playing their first match of the team season. The ITA ranks their
doubles team of C.C. Sardinha and Meghan Blevins No. 39 in the nation. Blevins is
also ranked in singles, coming in at No. 89. Last season, Oklahoma State had a
record of 11-10, including 5-4 in the Big 12.
The Shockers and Cowgirls had a close battle in Stillwater,
Okla. last season, in which Oklahoma State was victorious, 4-3.
Wichita State will be playing their second consecutive match
against an ITA ranked opponent. They fell to Oklahoma, 5-2, in Norman, Okla. on
Saturday. Although they lost the match as a team, Rebecca Pedrazzi and Veronika
Blaskova picked up two singles victories for the Shockers, while Blaskova
teamed with Lucia Kovalova to get a win in doubles play.
The match against Oklahoma State is scheduled to start at 11
