WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State men's tennis team will head
to Lubbock, Texas for matches against No. 27 Texas Tech on Saturday, February 9
and Lamar on Sunday, February 10.
Texas Tech (3-3) won their first three matches of the
season, before dropping their last three against No. 11 Mississippi State, No.
27 San Diego and No. 10 Stanford. The
Red Raiders return four lettermen from the 2011-12 squad that went 4-1 in Big
12 play and finished the season at No. 23 in the ITA.
Lamar (1-3) is coming off a 7-1 loss to Louisiana on Saturday,
February 2. For the 2011-12 season the Cardinals finished with a record of
7-11, including 1-4 in Southland conference play.
Wichita State (2-1) picked up their first two wins of the
season on Sunday, defeating both Cowley and Bethany 7-0. In singles play, the
Shockers did not drop a set all day and junior Ilija Cuic gathered his first
victories as a Shocker. Cuic also paired with fellow Croatian Tomislav
Gregurovic to grab their first doubles victories as a team.
The match against Texas Tech will begin at 10 a.m. on
Saturday, while the match against Lamar also has a start time of 10 a.m.
