WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State women's tennis team will travel to Columbia, Mo. for a match against No. 59 Missouri on Sunday at the Green Tennis Center.
Missouri (7-7) has fell in six out of their last seven matches after opening the season 6-1. Last time out they suffered a 7-0 loss to No. 3 Texas A&M. Cierra Gaytan-Leach leads the way in singles play with a record of 11-5. The ITA ranks Gaytan-Leach No. 119 in singles play. In doubles play, Rachel Stuhlmann and Maria Christensen are No. 68 in the nation.
Wichita State (6-9, 1-0) grabbed a big 5-2 win over the College of Charleston on Monday, March 18. Junior Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul defeated Katherine Scholfield in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, to clinch the match for the Shockers. Montse Blasco Fernandez is 15-10 on the season in singles play and has won seven out of her last ten contests. Lucia Kovalova, Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul and Rebecca Pedrazzi have alreadt gathered double-digit singles victories for the season.
In doubles play, Rebecca Pedrazzi and Carla Venticinque are 11-7 on the season, including 7-4 in dual match play. Veronika Blaskova and Lucia Kovalova have a record of 12-8.
