WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State men's tennis team will play their final home match of the season on Saturday, April 20 against Southern Illinois at Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex.
Southern Illinois (12-4, 3-1) is coming off a 4-3 loss to Drake on Saturday, April 13. Jorge Cavero leads the way for the Salukis in singles play with a record of 12-6, including 3-1 in conference play. Jonny Rigby is undefeated in conference play with a 4-0 mark and has won five consecutive matches. In doubles play, Martijn Admiraal and Brandon Florez are also undefeated in conference play and are 11-3 in dual matches on the season.
Wichita State (14-7, 3-1) defeated Bradley and Illinois State by the score of 6-1 on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14, respectively. Erick Reyes continued his impressive season, winning both his singles matches and pushing his winning streak to 12 matches. Reyes (4-0) and Tomislav Gregurovic (3-0) are undefeated in MVC play. Matheus Pereira and Tin Ostojic hold another undefeated mark for the Shockers with their perfect 4-0 record in MVC doubles play.
Pereira, the reigning MVC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week, will be playing the final home match of his Shocker career, as Wichita State will celebrate senior day on Saturday against Southern Illinois.
