Softball to Host Winter Camps

WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State softball team and coaching staff will be hosting the Shocker Softball Winter Camps, Jan. 9-10 at the new Bombardier Learjet Indoor Practice Facility.

The Little Slugger hitting camp will take place on Jan 9 from 9 a.m.-noon, and is for girls ages 8-13. The hitting camp will focus on the solid fundamentals of hitting and will help players develop their swing through drills and video analysis. Campers will learn offensive skills such as swing mechanics, how to correct hitting flaws, bunting and base running.

Cost for the camp is $50 on or before Jan. 1 and a 10-percent discount for groups of eight or more is available. Price of the camp is $60 for anyone wishing to register after Jan. 1.

The high school elite hitting camp will take place on Jan. 9-10 and is open to any and all high school athletes. The camp will consist of three hitting instruction sessions with WSU head softball coach Mike Perniciaro, strength and conditioning instruction with WSU strength coach Kerry Rosenboom, and an NCAA eligibility and recruiting seminar with WSU compliance coordinator Korey Torgerson.

Cost for the high school elite camp is $150 on or before Jan.1 and a 10-percent discount for groups of eight or more is available. Price of the camp is $160 for anyone wishing to register after Jan. 1.

Along with instruction from Shocker coaches and players, all campers will receive a Shocker softball t-shirt.
