WICHITA -- After reaching All-America status at the conclusion of his junior season, senior Dustin Garza earned himself an invitation to the Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic. The tournament has arrived as Garza is set to tee of on Sunday.
Hosted by the Sun Bowl Association, the 35th Annual Western Refining College All-America Golf Classic has the feel of a celebrity tournament. Replace the stars with the nation's best collegiate golfers playing a fun, yet competitive, tournament. According to Garza, the tournament is a less stressful way to finish the fall season while continuing to improve his game.
The three-day event begins on Sunday with the Titleist Long Drive Contest, the PING Putting Contest and the College-Am practice round. On Monday, the tournament field will play the first 36 holes before wrapping up play with Tuesday's final round of 18.
Thirty-two All-Americans will compete at the El Paso Country Club. The 6,837-yard course plays to a par-71.
