WICHITA, Kan. ? Wichita State baseball student-athlete Anthony Capra has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher-of-the-Week for the period of March 17-23.

Capra, a junior left-handed pitcher from Arvada, Colo., started game three at Illinois State on Sunday and earned his third victory of the season. He pitched six shutout innings and allowed no hits, while walking three and striking out a career-high 12.

He allowed just three baserunners in his six innings, all on walks, and none reached scoring position. He struck out the side in both the third and fifth innings and struck out at least two in four of the six innings.

He left the game after throwing 92 pitches in just his third appearance of the year after undergoing an appendectomy a month ago.

It is his first Missouri Valley Conference Pitcher-of-the-Week honor.
