CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Ashley Parker shot the best round of her career, helping the Wichita State women's golf team jump a spot in the final round of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic, carding a 950 (321-316-315) in the event and finishing in sixth place. The Shockers finished 10 strokes behind fifth-placed Arkansas State, and finished two strokes up on Montana. Eastern Washington won the event with a three round score of 912 (309-302-301).
"I didn't hit the ball that well today, but I kept my composure," Parker said. "I stayed focuses, relaxed, and let the game come to me."
Krista Hrdlicka led the Shockers with a score of 234 (77-78-79), and finished tied for 18th, while Parker's 75 led her to a 235 (82-78-75) final score, good enough for a tie for 22nd. Kristen Kosch fired a 240 (79-80-81) in the event and finished 36th. Megan Bartlett was two strokes back with a 242 (84-80-78), and finished in 41st. Competing as an individual, Abby Bartlett fired a 254 (87-87-80) in the event and finished tied for 76th.
"We played well today," said Head Coach Tom McCurdy. "I was proud of the way the ladies kept their composure. Some of them didn't hit the ball well, but they all stayed composed, and that's what I've been looking for."
The Shockers wrap up their season next week at the Missouri Valley Conference championship in Omaha, Neb..
