RENO, Nev. -- Dustin Garza used a 65 in his second round and held on
for his second-straight tournament victory at the Wolf Pack Classic,
which concluded Tuesday at the Wolf Run Golf Course in Reno, Nev. Garza
defeated UTEP's Roger Sloan by three strokes to win the tournament with a 54-hole score of 205 (67-65-73).
Zac Potter posted Wichita State's only sub-par score in the final round, carding a 71 on his way to a tournament score of 220 (79-70-71), good enough for a 38th-placed finish. Senior Ty Sanders carded an even-par 72 to finish with a 54-hole count of 223 (78-73-72), while Garza and Connor McHenry each posted one-over 73's in today's round. McHenry finished with a final score of 218 (75-70-73). Grady Pauls rounded out the Shocker scorecard with a 76 in the final round on his way to a tournament total of 233 (79-78-76).
Competing as an individual, Jordan Smith posted a third-round score of 79 to finish with a 231 (79-73-79).
As a team, the Shockers finished in seventh with a team score of 866 (299-278-289). Wichita State finished nine strokes ahead of eighth-placed Texas-El Paso, and two strokes back of sixth-placed Fresno State. New Mexico State won the tournament with a score of 847 (290-278-279).
The Shockers are idle until Oct. 20, when they conclude their fall season with a trip to San Diego for the annual Sycuan Invitational.
