WICHITA - The Wichita State women's tennis team volunteered at the Salvation Army on Saturday afternoon to help the local branch of the charity prepare for Christmas.
All of the Shockers were on hand from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at the Salvation Army warehouse on south Hydraulic. The team sorted toys, clothes and stocking stuffers for local boys and girls of all ages.
"This is one of the small ways we can give back to our community," Associate Head Coach Courtney Steinbock said. "Joining together as a team to do something for those who support us means a lot to us individually and as a program. I'm so proud of how excited these girls were to help out."
Thanks to the Salvation Army, the "miracle" of Christmas is repeated over and over again through the joy of caring and sharing. The traditional red kettle is an integral part of the Christmas scene, with millions of dollars donated each year to aid needy families, seniors, and the homeless, in keeping with the spirit of the season.
