Dirks Makes Major League Debut

DETROIT, Mich. - Former Wichita State baseball player Andy Dirks made his Major League debut on May 16 for the Detroit Tigers.

Dirks, an outfielder from Burrton, Kan., went 1-for-2 with a walk in his debut and he started in left field.

Dirks earned third team All-America honors for the Shockers in 2008 and led the team to back-to-back Super Regional appearances in 2007 and 2008. 

He is the 32nd Shocker to play in the Major Leagues.
