WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita State volleyball team received
votes in the AVCA Preseason Poll, which was released Aug. 15. The Shockers received 11 points in the
poll.
The
Shockers open the season on the road Aug. 26, at the Chevron Rainbow Wahine
Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii against Arizona.
WSU returns
four starters and nine letterwinners to a team that went 21-8 in 2010 and
advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
The
Shockers will play six teams that are ranked or receiving votes in the
preseason poll including Hawaii (10th), Northern Iowa (14th),
Colorado State (15th), Oklahoma (16th), Louisville (RV)
and Arizona (RV).
Top
returners include 2010 first team all-Valley selections Mary Elizabeth Hooper
and Emily Adney and second team selection Camri Zwiesler. Hooper averaged 10.42
assists, 0.65 kills and 2.33 digs per set, while Adney averaged 3.54 kills and
1.94 digs per set and Zwiesler averaged 3.69 kills and 3.19 digs per set.
