WICHITA, Kan. — Wichita State senior Audacia Moore led
the Shockers with two individual event victories at the Varsity Apartments
Invitational Saturday, as Wichita State track and field won both the men's and women's team
titles at the Heskett Center.
Moore set meet and facility records with a time of 7.45 in
the women's 60-meter dash, finishing one-hundredth of a second off of her
indoor school record in the event. The time ranked among the nation's top 40
Saturday.
Moore, from Wichita, went on to win the women's 200 meters
in 24.62 in the second day of the home meet in front of a crowd of 1,008.
The Shockers won the women's team title with 134 points,
followed by Sam Houston State (102.5), Texas-Arlington (82.5), Missouri State
(75.5), Nebraska-Omaha (26.5), Doane (23) and UMKC (21).
On the men's side, the Shockers grabbed the team title with
163 points. Texas-Arlington finished second with 109 points, followed by Doane (86)
in third, Sam Houston State (68) in fourth and UMKC (38) in fifth.
Wichita State junior Chris Dubree, from Bloomington, Ill.,
won the men's shot put Saturday with a throw of 55-5 ½. The mark moved Dubree
to sixth on WSU's all-time top-10 list in the event and ranked among the
top-five performances in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Shocker senior Lawson Montgomery broke meet and facility records
in the men's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.89. The time marks the second-fastest
in the Valley this season and tied for 25th in the nation Saturday.
Jonathan Hilton, competing unattached, won the men's
heptathlon with 5,394 points. Shocker Austin Bahner finished second with 5,326
points - the second-highest points total in the Valley this season and a top-30
total nationally Saturday.
Jake Wike, a Shocker senior, took first in the men's 800
meters, finishing in 1:53.16 - a top-five time in the conference this
season.
Wichita State junior Aliphine Tuliamuk won the women's mile
in 4:55.28.
Shocker freshman Sterling Spencer took first in the men's
3,000 meters with a time of 8:38.77.
Wichita State senior Dylan Hartnett won the men's 400 meters
in 49 seconds.
The Shocker men's 4x400-meter relay team of Alex Reed, Kyle
Long, DJ Lindsey and Dylan Hartnett took first place in 3:19.97.
The Shockers next compete Feb. 10-11 at the SPIRE Collegiate
Invitational in Geneva, Ohio.
