WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita State women's and men's track
& field teams are ranked 11th and 15th, respectively, in the Midwest
Region in the latest NCAA Division I indoor track & field
rankings released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches
Association (USTFCCCA) Tuesday.
The Shocker women also moved up one spot in the national
rankings to No. 33 from last week.
Wichita State senior Audacia Moore holds the Midwest Region's top spot in the women's 60 meters thanks to her winning time of 7.45 in the event at the Varsity Apartments Invitational last weekend at the Heskett Center. She also ranks seventh in the region in the women's 200 meters.
Shocker junior Aliphine Tuliamuk ranks third in the Midwest women's 3,000 meters. Austin Bahner and Aaron Young rank among the region's top eight in the men's heptathlon. Brandon Childs (men's high jump) and Lawson Montgomery (men's 60-meter hurdles) also are ranked in the Midwest.
Arkansas tops the men's national team rankings and Oregon
ranks No. 1 in the women's national rankings. The Southern Illinois women, who
compete in the Missouri Valley Conference, rank 11th nationally.
In the Midwest Region team rankings, the Nebraska men are
No. 1, followed by Oklahoma, Minnesota, Iowa and Kansas State in the top five. Southern
Illinois (No. 9) joins the Shockers as the only other MVC team ranked in the
region. The Shocker men moved up four spots from last week to No. 15.
On the women's side, Kansas holds the top spot in the
Midwest, followed by Nebraska, Kansas State, Illinois and Southern Illinois.
The Shockers (No. 11) moved up two spots from last week's rankings. Fellow MVC
team Missouri State (No. 12) also is ranked in the Midwest.
The Shockers next travel to Geneva, Ohio for the SPIRE
Collegiate Invitational Friday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, Feb. 11. Shocker junior
Aliphine Tuliamuk will travel to Ames, Iowa to run a 5,000-meter race Saturday,
Feb. 11 at the Iowa State Classic.
