WICHITA, Kan.-- Junior Gretchen Huhnerkoch is the WSU Athlete of the week for the week of April 2, 2012.

She tied for second in the Sixth Annual UARL Women's Golf Classic in Hot Springs, Ark., March 26-27. She fished at 1-over for the tournament shooting a 54-hole score of 217 (74+76+67). Her three-round score of 217 ties a Wichita State record set by Maria Borjesson at the Northwest Invitational during the 1995-96. Her third-round score of 67 breaks the Wichita State 18-hole record by three strokes. Before her third-round on Tuesday, no Shocker had ever shot below 70 in a round. 

The Shocker women's golf team is back in action April 9-11 in Chandler, Ariz. for the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic.
