WICHITA, Kan.- The No. 62 Wichita State women's tennis team
will travel to Normal, Ill. on Saturday April 14th
for a match against Illinois State at 1 p.m. The next day they will head to
Peoria, Ill. to play Bradley at 10 a.m.
Illinois State (8-9, 2-1) is coming off
their second conference win of the season when they defeated Northern Iowa on
Sunday, April 8th, 6-1.
Bradley (3-14, 0-3) is looking for
their first conference win of the season after taking losses against Illinois
State, Drake, and Northern Iowa. The Braves will take on Creighton on Saturday
at home before their match against the Shockers on Sunday.
Wichita State (14-5, 3-0) swept weekend
conference matches last time out, defeating Evansville, 6-1, and Southern
Illinois, 7-0. In singles, all the Shocker women have won at least two matches
in a row, including six-match winning streaks by Veronika Blaskova and Carla
Venticinque.
Senior Lutfiana Budiharto jumped three
spots to number 76 in the most recent ITA singles rankings. She is 15-3 in the
dual match season, including winning eight out of her last ten singles
contests.
After this weekend, the Shockers return
to the Sheldon Coleman Tennis Complex for their last home matches of the
season. They will take on Drake on Saturday, April 21st and Northern
Iowa on Sunday, April 22nd.
