Box Score TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Indiana State used a four-run eighth
inning to defeat Wichita State 6-3 in game two of a three-game series.
Dayne Parker, Tyler Baker and Taylor Doggett each drove a
run in for the Shockers. Starter Kris
Gardner earned a no decision. He went
seven innings and gave up one earned run on four hits with one walk and four
strikeouts. Reliever TJ McGreevy took
the loss. He went one inning and gave up
four runs on four hits.
The Sycamores scored a run in the first. Jeff Miera was hit by a pitch with one out
and advanced to second on a single by Jeremy Lucas. After a flyout moved him to third, he scored
on a single through the left side by Jon Hedges to give INS a 1-0 lead.
INS tacked on an unearned run in the fifth. Kyle Burnam led off the inning with a bunt
single and advanced to second on a throwing error. He moved to third on a flyout to center and
scored on a sacrifice fly by Koby Kraemer to give the Sycamores a 2-0 lead.
The Shockers tied the score at two with a couple of runs in
the eighth. Kevin Hall pinch hit with
one out and doubled down the left field line.
He scored on a single to left field by Taylor Doggett to cut the lead to
2-1. After a walk to Erik Harbutz,
Brandon Dorsett threw a wild pitch to advance the runners to second and
third. Dayne Parker hit a sac fly to
centerfield to tie the game at two.
The Sycamores answered with a big inning in the eighth. After INS scored the go-ahead run on an
error, Jeremy Lucas singled and Rob Ort hit a three-run home run to put the
Sycamores in front 6-2.
Johnny Coy led off the ninth with a double and pinch runner
Conner Knight scored on a single by Tyler Baker to make the final score 6-3.
The Shockers and Sycamores play game three of the series on
Sun., May 6 at 12 p.m. Central time.
