WICHITA, Kan.- Wichita State senior women's golfer Hannah
Martin helped the Kansas team take third place in the Fore State tournament in
Hutchinson, July 29-31.
The tournament is an annual event between teams from Kansas,
Oklahoma, Arkansas and Missouri. The team from Oklahoma won the tournament with
13.5 points. The Kansas team scored ten points, only half a point back from the
second place team from Arkansas.
"It is personally one of my favorite tournaments," said
Martin. "We always have so much fun playing together on the same team and
having Kansas host this year made it that much better."
Martin won her four-ball and foursome matches before losing
to Alex Stewart from Oklahoma 1 up in her singles match. The experience from a tournament like this
is something the senior knows will help her lead the Shockers in the upcoming
fall season.
"I am really excited to get this year underway," said
Martin. "As senior I am looking forward to helping our team get better with
each tournament and helping our team succeed."
The Shocker women will
compete in their first fall tournament September 10-11 in Lincoln, Neb.
