WICHITA, Kan.- Head women's tennis coach Colin Foster
released the schedule for the 2012-13 season today. It can be found here.
Coming off their fourth consecutive Missouri Valley
Conference Championship and trip to the NCAA Tournament, the Shockers play ten
opponents in the spring that also reached the NCAA Tournament last season, Oral
Roberts, Oklahoma State, Texas, Stephen F. Austin or Utah, Tulsa, Nebraska,
Purdue, TCU, North Texas and College of Charleston.
The Shockers also play 11 teams in the spring that finished
last season ranked in the top 80, Texas (10), Nebraska (16), Tulsa (23), Purdue
(26), Utah (34), TCU (35), Oklahoma State (41), Stephen F. Austin (45),
Oklahoma (46), Missouri (53), College of Charleston (63), and Kansas State
(71). The Shockers finished the 2011-12 season ranked No. 62 in the nation.
The Shockers return a doubles team of junior Veronika
Blaskova and reigning MVC Freshman of the Year Lucia Kovalova that finished the
2011-12 campaign ranked No. 69 in the ITA rankings. Juniors Carla Venticinque,
Montse Blasco Fernandez and Satjaporn Mahajaroenkul, along with newcomers
Rebecca Pedrazzi, Masa Smic and Summer Schlotterback, will look to help lead
the Shocker women to their fifth straight MVC Team Championship and fourth
under head coach Colin Foster.
The team begins their fall season with the Drake Invite,
Sept. 14-16.
