WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State volleyball student-athlete
Emily Adney has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player-of-the-Week
for the week of Sept. 17-23.
Adney, a senior outside hitter from Golden, Colo., led the
Shockers to a 2-0 record including Missouri Valley Conference wins over
Evansville and Southern Illinois.
Adney averaged 4.17 kills, 0.33 aces, 3.83 digs, 1.17 blocks
and 5.08 points per set while hitting .362 on the left side. In the sweep over the Aces, she had nine
kills, one assist, one ace, 11 digs and four blocks. In the match, she became the 11th
player in Shocker history to record 1,000 kills in a career.
In the sweep over the Salukis, she had a match-high 16 kills
on 33 swings without an error and hit .485.
She also added three assists, one ace, 12 digs and three blocks. It was her fifth double-double of the
season.
It is the fourth MVC Player-of-the-Week honor of her career,
which ties her with Sara Younes for the third-most all-time by a Shocker. Emily Stockman had eight in her career, while
Abby Harsh had five.
Adney and the Shockers are back in action on Fri., Sept. 28
at Bradley and Sat., Sept. 29 at UNI.
