WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita State University men's and
women's cross country teams travel to Stillwater, Okla. for the OSU Cowboy
Jamboree on Sept. 29. Both teams are coming off team titles in their first two
meets of the season, winning the J.K. Gold Classic and the Missouri State
Invitational.
21 men's University/College teams and 17 women's
University/College teams will compete in Saturday's races. The lady Shockers
will start their 5,000-meter race at 9:15 a.m. and the men's 8K race begins at
9:45 a.m.
"The OSU Jamboree has always been a good meet for us to
compete in," said Head Coach Kirk Hunter. "There is always great competition
and it is a great chance for us to really test ourselves and see how we fit
with other teams in our region."
The Shockers last competed at the Missouri State Invite in
Springfield, Mo. Despite the rainy and wet course both Shocker teams brought
home first place finishes. For the women, senior Aliphine Tuliamuk took home
her second consecutive individual title, winning the 5,000-meter race with a
time of 18:01 and sophomore Kaitlyn McLeod finished third with a time of 18:37.
In the university/men's 8K, senior Marcos Bailon led the way with a second
place finish with a time of 25:25 and sophomore Sterling Spencer
followed Bailon placing third with a time of 25:40.
"We are really excited for the meet at OSU. It is finally a
chance for us to run with the bigger schools and mix it up," said Sophomore
Kaitlyn McLeod.
Results of the OSU Cowboy Jamboree will
be posted Saturday afternoon.
