STILLWATER, Okla. - Wichita State University's Men and Women Cross Country Teams competed in the OSU Cowboy Jamboree Saturday morning. The women finished second overall as a team and the men finished fifth overall. Senior Aliphine Tuliamuk took home another first place individual finish for the third consecutive race. She finished the 5K race in 17:01.77, 16 seconds faster than the second place runner.

"I thought Aliphine ran a great race today," Head Coach Kirk Hunter said. "She finished 16 seconds faster than the second place finisher, Risper Kimaiyo from UTEP and she was an All-American last year."

The WSU women's team also had three more runners in the top-25. Sophomore Kaitlyn McLeod finished 15^th overall with a time of 18:21.46, junior Samantha Shukla took 18^th (18:34.63), and senior Elida Bailon came in at 22^nd (18:39.27).

"I was pleased with the way our girls ran today," Hunter said. "There was some good competition out here today and to take second place out of 17 teams makes me pretty happy."

The WSU men's team battled through some sickness and injuries to take home fifth place overall. Sophomore Sterling Spencer was the lead runner for the Shockers, he finished 17^th overall with a time of 25:10.53. Senior Marcos Bailon, coming off back-to-back second place finishes to start the season, finished in 41^st (25:57.01).

"On the men's side, it wasn't a great day for us," Said Hunter. "We fought through some sickness and injuries today, but we didn't run the way we were supposed to," Hunter Added. "I have faith that these guys will bounce back and perform better in Louisville."

The Shockers next compete Sat., Oct. 13 at the Pre-Nationals Meet in Louisville, Ky., and the McPherson Invitational in McPherson, Kan.
