WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State volleyball student-athletes
Chelsey Feekin and Ashley Andrade have been honored by the Missouri Valley
Conference for the week of Sept. 24-29.
Feekin is the Player-of-the-Week and Andrade is the Defensive
Player-of-the-Week.
Feekin, a junior setter from Papillion, Neb., averaged 1.75 kills,
8.62 assists, 0.12 aces, 3.00 digs and 0.50 blocks per set, while hitting .370
in two matches over the weekend.
In the four-set win at Bradley, she had the first
triple-double for the Shockers since 1999.
She posted 10 kills, 37 assists and 13 digs along with a service ace and
three blocks and hit .571. Feekin's
triple-double was just the eighth all-time at Wichita State and just the third
kills/assists/digs triple-double in school history. Against UNI, she had four kills, 32 assists,
11 digs and one block.
Andrade, a junior middle blocker from Glendale, Ariz., averaged
1.75 blocks, 0.25 digs, 0.12 aces and 1.50 kills per set.
In the four-set win at Bradley, she had 10 total blocks
along with nine kills, three assists and a service ace. The eight block assists in the match tied her
career-high and she is the first Shocker to have 10 or more blocks in a match
since Sarah McGee had 10 against Miami on Aug. 28, 2010. At UNI, she had a team-high four blocks along
with two digs, an assist and three kills.
It is the first Valley honor for Feekin and Andrade.
The Shockers are next in action on Wed., Oct. 3 at Oklahoma
and return to Charles Koch Arena on Fri., Oct. 5 against Illinois State.
