Fairfax, Calif. - Louis Cohen Boyer tied for ninth place and
the Wichita State University men's golf team tied for sixth at the Alister
MacKenzie Invitational, hosted by the No. 1-ranked team in the country, Cal -
Berkeley.
Boyer shot an even-par 71 on Tuesday close at 6-under
(70-66-71=207) and finish in a four-way tie for ninth place. The sophomore carded three birdies but also
bogeyed three holes, equal to the number in his first 36 holes combined. Boyer has finished in the top 10 in each of
the three fall tournaments in which he has participated.
Senior Rafael Becker shot a 3-over 74 in Tuesday's final
round but still finished in a tie for 19th at 1-under
(69-69-74=212).
The team tied with No. 48 (Golf World / Nike Coaches' Poll)
Oregon St. for sixth at 8-over par (278-281-292=851). Cal, the host school and top-ranked team in
the nation, claimed the team title by 20 strokes over San Francisco with a
46-under 806 (265-268-273).
Cal's Brandon Hagy took medalist honors with a 15-under 198
(64-62-72).
The Shockers wrap up the fall schedule at next week's Herb
Wimberley Invitational, hosted by New Mexico State.
