WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State men's tennis team will head
to Minneapolis, Minn., October 18-22, for the USTA/ITA Central Region
Championships at the Baseline Tennis Center.
The Shocker men are coming off some very tough competition
at the ITA All-American Championships two weeks ago. The doubles pairs of Alvaro
Gutierrez/Matheus Pereira and Tin Ostjic/Erick Reyes both made it to the
third-round of the qualifying bracket before falling to opponents that made it
into the main draw.
At last season's Central Region
Championships, senior Matheus Pereira made it to the quarterfinals of the
singles competition before falling to Vlad Bondarenko of Oklahoma State, 6-1,
5-7, 6-4. Pereira also made it to the quarterfinals of the doubles competition
with David Cavalcanti, but the pair lost to Julian Dehn and Rok Bonin of Minnesota, 8-6.
Results and scores will be posted on GoShockers.com
following each day's competition.
