WICHITA, Kan. - Former Wichita State baseball All-American
Andy Dirks will be making his first appearance in the MLB World Series with the
Detroit Tigers.
The Tigers swept the New York Yankees to win the American
League Championship Series. In nine
playoff games this season, Dirks went 11-for-35 (.257).
During the regular-season, he hit .322 with 56 runs, 101
hits, 18 doubles, five triples and eight home runs.
Dirks, who played for the Shockers from 2007-08, earned
third team All-America honors in 2008 and led Wichita State to Super Regional
appearances in 2007 and 2008.
