BUIES CREEK, N.C.- The Wichita State women's golf team
finished in seventh place at the Fighting Camel Classic on Tuesday afternoon at
Keith Hills Country Club. Bryce Schroeder finished in a tie for 15th.
The Shocker women carded a 958 (319-315-324) over the three
rounds. No. 39 Campbell, who hosted the tournament, led the team scoring with a
34-over 898 (294-298-306).
For the second straight tournament, freshman Bryce Schroeder
led the Shocks in scoring. She shot a 54-hole score of 231 (79-77-75) to put
her at 15-over for the tournament. Schroeder was able to climb seven spots
on the leaderboard during the final round, as she started the day in a tie for 22nd.
Senior Hollie Weathurburn finished in a tie for 30th with a
241 (79-81-81). Fellow senior Hannah Martin and sophomore Daniela Rugeles both
finished in a tie for 38th, shooting a 243. Sarah Gilbert, playing in her
second tournament, shot a 263 (92-81-90), to round out the scoring for the
Shockers.
The Fighting Camel Classic was the last tournament of the
fall season for the Shocker women. They will begin their spring season March 8-10
when they travel to Rio Verde, Ariz. for the Rio Verde Invitational.
