WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State women's golf team continued
their community service work with Carpenter Place this past week. It is the
second time this season the Shocker women have spent time with the young girls
of the organization.
The team spent an evening with about 20 girls baking sugar
cookies from scratch, creating cinnamon scented ornaments, manicures and
socializing. The team will continue to volunteer with the organization
throughout the year to continue building relationships and impacting lives. It
gives the student-athletes a chance to not only be a blessing to the girls, but
also learn how fortunate they are to have supportive family and friends.
Carpenter Place is a privately funded,
non-profit entity that helps girls in crisis. The girls are ages 6 through 18,
and live in two homes located on a 13-acre plot. The idea of the residences is
to create a family, home environment.
