MBB: Carl Hall to have Thumb Surgery Tuesday

WICHITA, Kan. --  Wichita State forward Carl Hall will have surgery on his right thumb Tuesday and will be out approximately a month, Head Men's Basketball Coach Gregg Marshall announced today.

"You never want this to happen to any of your student-athletes, especially someone like Carl who has put in a great amount of time and effort to improve, and is playing at a very high level right now," Marshall said. "And with the other two starters, Evan Wessel (hand) and Ehimen Orukpe (ankle), injured as well, it just compounds the problem.

"However, these injuries do create opportunities for their teammates, who have also been putting in the work, but we do anxiously await for the injured to heal and return to the court."

Hall, a starter who averages a team-leading 13.9 points and 7.6 rebounds, broke the thumb in practice during the weekend.
