WICHITA, Kan.- The indoor season started with a bang for the Wichita State Track & Field team as Shocker athletes won three of the six contested events in day one of the Herm Wilson Invitational.

Shanice Andrews (39-3) and Courtney Reinke (38-7) finished first and second in the women's triple jump, respectively. Andrews set a new personal indoor best, while Reinke exceed her mark at last year's meet by nearly nine inches.

Returning All- Missouri Valley Conference athlete, Alex Reed (23-03) won the men's long jump for WSU. Fellow Shockers, Austin Bahner (22-7 3/4) and Grant Ralston (22-7 1/4) claimed third and fourth place in the event.

Jeff Connor captured first place in the men's weight throw. Connor, a junior, set a new personal best with a throw of 60-1.

Chris Seiler shattered his personal best with a throw of 54-3, which was good enough for third place in the men's weight throw.

Former WSU great, Chandra Andrews won the women's weight throw for the Shocker Track Club with a mark of 59-0.3/4. Andrews beat the next competitor by nearly 10 ft.

Sadie Suenram (48-0), Emily Cook (46-2), and Caitlin Bauer (42-0) each finished in the top five in the women's weight throw.  Suenram set a new personal best in the event.

Lauren McFarland (13-5) of Oral Roberts won the Women's Pole Vault. Blair Ploude of Emporia State won the men's high jump with a 7-0 ft. leap.

The Herm Wilson Invitational resumes at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, with more field events. Running events begin at 3 p.m.
