ST. LOUIS - The
Missouri Valley Conference has named Wichita State senior guard Malcolm
Armstead as the MVC Newcomer of the week after averaging 12.5 points, 5.5
rebounds, and 4.5 assists last week.
Armstead, a transfer from the University of Oregon, helped
lead the Shockers to a 67-64 win over MVC rival Creighton on Jan. 19, where he
pitched in 15 points, five assists, and tied his WSU career high with six
rebounds in 35 minutes. The Florence, Ala. native has had nine double-figure
scoring games for the Shockers in 2012-13.
The WSU win over then No. 10 ranked Creighton vaulted the
Shockers back into the Top 25 polls this week.
The Shockers are back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 23rd
as they take on the Missouri State Bears in Springfield, Mo. at 7 p.m. The game
can be viewed on Kansas 22.
