WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita State baseball program has
produced 27 Academic All-Americans, which is the most in college baseball since
1982. Notre Dame is in second place with
25.
The list includes Division I, II and III baseball teams,
which is over 900 baseball programs.
WSU has produced two National Academic Athletes-of-the-Year
in Charlie Giaudrone in 1992 and Mike Drumright in 1995.
Casey Blake earned three Academic All-America honors as he
was named second team in 1994 and first team in 1995 and 1996.
Twelve of the 27 were named to the first team including Don
Heinkel, Tim Gaskell, Jeff Bluma, Kennie Steenstra, Charlie Giaudrone, Casey
Blake (twice), Mike Drumright, Zach Sorensen, Marc Bluma, Mark Johnson and Rob
Musgrave.
