Box Score LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Shockers finish their Arkansas trip
at 4-1 after a 5-3 win over Iowa.
Cody Bobbit finished 3-for-5, while Tyler Baker and Micah
Green each had two hits. Johnny Coy
finished with two RBI. Reliever TJ
McGreevy earned the win. He went four shutout innings with four strikeouts,
while Brandon Peterson picked up his second save with a scoreless ninth.
Iowa jumped on the board in the first inning. Drew Palmer
hit the first two batters of the game and they both scored on a two-out single
from Keith Brand for a 2-0 lead.
Tyler Baker led off the second inning with a single up the
middle, moved to second on a throwing error by the pitcher on a pickoff attempt
and went to third on a passed ball.
Baker scored on a sacrifice fly to right field by Erik Harbutz to cut
the lead to 2-1.
The Hawkeyes answered in the bottom of the second with
another run to go in front 3-1, but the Shockers put together a big inning in
the third. Mikel Mucha and Cody Bobbit
led off with singles and advanced on a sac bunt from Garrett Bayliff. After an intentional walk to Casey Gillaspie,
Johnny Coy just missed a grand slam with a two-run double off the top of the
wall in left-center. Gillaspie was
thrown out at the plate, but the two runs tied the game at three. Baker then doubled down the right field line
to drive in Coy for a 4-3 lead.
An Iowa error led to another Shocker run in the fifth for a
5-3 lead
The Shockers are next in action on Tue., March 5 against
Oral Roberts at 3 p.m. at Eck Stadium.
