WICHITA, Kan.- The NCAA released the list of athletes who qualified for the West Region Preliminary. Wichita State will send the 12 athletes who ranked in the top 48 in the region to Austin, Texas where the top 12 finishers in each event will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
The 12 Shockers qualified for the NCAA West Region Preliminary are:
Zach Budda (High Jump)
Tomas Cotter (3,000m Steeplechase)
Chris Dubree (Shot Put)
Tanya Friesen (High Jump, Long Jump)
Mariah Garcia (Discus Throw)
Tyson Holmes (Javelin)
Garrett Lynch (High Jump)
Natalie Morerod (400m Hurdles)
Ashley Petersen (High Jump)
Courtney Reinke (Triple Jump)
Jon Rizzo (Javelin)
Aliphine Tuliamuk-Bolton (5,000m and 10,000m)
Friesen and Austin Bahner have also automatically qualified for the NCAA Outdoor National Championships with top 24 performances nationally in the heptathlon and decathlon respectively. The NCAA West Region Preliminary will be held May 23-25 in Austin, Texas.
