Shocks Travel to No. 11 TCU This Weekend

WICHITA, Kan. ? The Wichita State baseball team will travel to Fort Worth, Texas, this weekend for a three-game series with No. 11 TCU.  Friday's game is at 6:30 p.m., while Saturday's is at 2 p.m. and Sunday's at 1 p.m.

All three games will be broadcast on the radio on either KNSS 1330 AM or 1240 AM with Shane Dennis and Terry Elliot calling the action.

Series History vs. the Horned Frogs
Wichita State leads the overall series with TCU, 8-1.  WSU also leads the series in Fort Worth, Texas, 2-1.  The two teams first met in 1986 in Fort Worth and have played each other in 1987, 1989, 2006 and 2008.  The Shockers have won six in a row in the series.

Last Meeting vs. TCU
The last meeting between the two teams was May 30, 2008, in Stillwater, Okla., in NCAA Regional play.  The Shockers won the game 8-5.  Clint McKeever went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a home run, while Andy Dirks went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a home run.  Rob Musgrave pitched a complete game for the Shockers to earn the win.

Radio Schedule for This Weekend
Due to the men's basketball team playing in the MVC Tournament this weekend, the radio schedule for Shocker baseball could change.  Here are the scenarios.  If the men's basketball team loses on Thursday than all three baseball games this weekend are on KNSS 1330 AM.  If the men's basketball team wins on Thursday than Friday's baseball game is on 1240 AM/98.7 FM.  Saturday's baseball game is on 1330 AM no matter what, while on Sunday if the men's basketball team is still alive than the baseball game will be on 1240 AM/98.7 FM. Shane Dennis and Terry Elliot will call the games.   

History in Texas
Wichita State has not played a game in the state of Texas since 2003 when the Shockers played in Houston at the Rice Regional.  In regular-season play, WSU has not played in Texas since 1997 when the Shockers played a two-game series at Houston.  WSU holds an overall record of 43-46-1 in the state of Texas overall and a record of 33-27-1 under head coach Gene Stephenson.

Jones' Streak Alive; McKeever's Snapped
Two Shockers had hitting streaks alive from last season going into the BYU series.  Ryan Jones had a hit in each game to extend his streak to 12 games.  Clint McKeever had a hit in the first game to extend his to a career-best 15 games, but did not have a hit in game two to snap his streak.
