Assistant Director—Media Relations

Wichita State University, a member of the Missouri Valley Conference and sponsor of 15 Division I varsity sports, invites applications for the Assistant Director Media Relations. This is a full-time position with full benefits.

Responsibilities include assisting in the management of all operations of the Media Relations Office with specific duties in women’s basketball and tennis or golf, being responsible for fact books, virtual guides, game notes, game programs, feature stories and website updates while providing assistance in numerous other sports and other duties as assigned.

The position also oversees a graduate assistant(s) assigned to selected Olympic Sports.

Bachelor’s degree required, master’s preferred, in journalism, public relations, communications or sport management/administration. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of creativity and initiative required.

The candidate must possess good writing and editing ability, video editing experience, knowledge of AP style and recent demonstrated experience in an athletics media relations office.

The candidate should also have knowledge of StatCrew and Automated Scorebook statistical software. Experience with Photoshop, InDesign, iMovie, Microsoft Office, basic HTML, ftp sharing and social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram).

Salary is commensurate with experience and education.

Assistant Ticket Manager

Wichita State University, a Division I member of the Missouri Valley Conference and sponsor of 15 varsity sports, is seeking an energetic individual to serve as Assistant Director for Ticket Operations.  This is a 12 month position with a competitive salary and benefits package. Responsibilities include hiring and scheduling of office staff, processing all daily deposits, overseeing all aspects of assigned sports maintaining all areas of specific sport seasons including seating charts, ticket allocations, printing, renewals and all other ticket functions.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred. Experience in Paciolan ticketing software or other ticket software required. Excellent customer service, organizational and communication skills, the ability to work in a team environment and a commitment to maximize ticket sales revenue required; must be willing to work irregular hours, nights and weekends.
