“He's a strike-thrower. The kid throws a lot of strikes and has a good secondary pitch. The thing he was missing last year was physical maturity and just a better pitching plan. The physical part took care of itself and the pitching plan has developed. He throws his pitches when he has to. He had two out pitches and has done very well with it this year.”

“They have a couple guys with real good numbers and the one thing I've learned is that when you see numbers like that, you know there is something special. We know, as a program, that we will have our hands full tomorrow and all through this tournament. They've got a good starter and obviously their closer is the real deal too. It will be a real challenge.”

On being on the road for a regional

“Personally, I kind of wanted to travel. Traveling is always fun, being on the road with the guys. It's just like any other road trip. They (Wichita) have a nice park here and I hear they get good crowds, so it's going to be exciting.”

Last Season vs. This Season

“Just coming out last year as a freshman, I was still getting a feel for things. I didn't take the season like that, but that's how it ended up, seeing how the game is played at this level. This year I knew exactly what to expect and came out and knew what I had to do.”

“The best part of the season is right now. This is where we want to be, and this is the road we want to be on.”
