"We will be excited to get a head start on the season on what will be a once-in-lifetime trip for many of our players," Marshall said. "This will also be a great opportunity to gel since the entire team will be able to participate, and a great learning experience for our team to visit a foreign country and have a chance to see a different part of the world."
Wichita State's incoming players are eligible to play in the yet to be determined four to five games that will be scheduled against professional teams in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
In preparation for the trip, WSU is allowed 10 days of practice per NCAA rules prior to leaving Aug. 7.
Wichita State's last foreign trip was in September, 2006, to Canada.
Game dates and times are still to be determined.
