Shockers Travel to Texas
Wichita State travels to Dallas, Texas for the SMU Doubletree Classic Sept. 6-8. The Shockers will play host SMU on Thurs., Sept. 6 at 7 p.m., Auburn at 5 p.m. on Fri., Sept. 7 and Texas State at 11 a.m. on Sat., Sept. 8.

The last meeting between the two teams was Sept. 14, 2010, in Wichita. The Shockers won 3-0 by scores of 25-15, 25-18 and 25-19. Camri Zwiesler had 13 kills and 11 digs, while Emily Adney had 13 kills. Mary Elizabeth Hooper had 35 assists and Sarah Waldorf had 15 digs.
The Tigers are 7-0 so far this season. Wins have come against Central Michigan, Drake, Green Bay, Georgia Southern, High Point, Jacksonville State and Troy. AU is led by Sarah Bullock who is averaging 3.04 kills and 2.87 digs per set. Chelsea Wintzinger averages 5.96 assists and Sarah Wroblicky averages 4.92 digs per set. The Tigers are led by second-year head coach Rick Nold.

The last meeting between the two teams was Sept. 1, 2007, in Denver, Colo. The Shockers won 3-0 by scores of 30-23, 30-19 and 30-23. Emily Stockman had 16 kills, while Abby Harsh had 39 assists and Kelly Broussard had 17 digs.
Scouting Texas State
The Bobcats are 4-4 so far this season. Wins have come against Sam Houston State, South Carolina State, Lamar and Tulane. Losses have come against Texas A&M, North Dakota, USC and Baylor. TSU is led by Alexandra Sims who is averaging 3.07 kills per set. Caleigh McCorquodale averages 7.00 assists and 2.88 digs per set and Laura Whalen averages 3.08 digs per set. TSU is led by 33rd-year head coach Karen Chisum.
Shocks Receiving Votes
The Wichita State volleyball team is receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches Top 25 poll released Sept. 3. The Shockers are receiving 10 votes in the poll.
The Shockers defeated then No. 24 Colorado State last week before falling to No. 21 BYU and No. 16 Tennessee in five sets.
Player of the Week & Defensive Player of the Week - Ashley Andrade earned all-tournament team honors for the Shockers at the Shocker Volleyball Classic. She averaged 2.43 kills, 0.29 digs, 1.36 blocks and 3.18 points per set while hitting .415. In WSU’s win over No. 24 Colorado State, she had nine kills on 19 swings and hit .368. She also added two digs and six blocks. Against eventual tournament champion BYU, she had 12 kills on 25 swings and hit .360 and also had four blocks. In the finale against No. 14 Tennessee, Andrade had 13 kills on 21 swings and hit .524. She added two assists, two digs and nine total blocks. Her eight block assists tied a career-high.
Feekin Close to a Triple Double
Junior setter Chelsey Feekin continues to put up great stats for the Shockers. In the Shocker Volleyball Classic, she averaged 1.79 kills, 9.00 assists, 0.36 service aces, 2.64 digs and 0.86 blocks per set while hitting .426. In the win over No. 24 Colorado State, she had six kills, 34 assists, three aces, 12 digs and six blocks while hitting .400. Against BYU, she missed a triple-double by a dig with 10 kills, 44 assists, two aces, nine digs and three blocks and hit .471. In the finale against No. 14 Tennessee, she just missed a triple-double by a kill with nine kills, 48 assists, 16 digs and three blocks and hit .400. The 48 assists and 16 digs were career-highs.
Vs. Ranked Teams at Home
The Shockers earned their second-straight win over a ranked Colorado State team. WSU won at No. 14 Colorado State in four sets last season and defeated the No. 24 Rams in four sets in Wichita on Thursday night. It was the first win over a ranked team in Charles Koch Arena for the Shockers since defeating No. 22 Oklahoma in five sets on Sept. 14, 2011.
Wichita State has finished in the top-10 nationally in attendance since 2007. The Shockers averaged 2,592 fans per match for the Shocker Volleyball Classic this weekend. WSU had a season-high 2,814 fans against No. 24 Colorado State and followed that up with 2,387 fans against BYU and 2,576 fans against No. 14 Tennessee.
Andrade Named to All-Tournament Team
Junior middle blocker Ashley Andrade earned all-tournament team honors at the Shocker Volleyball Classic. Andrade averaged 2.43 kills and 1.36 blocks per set while hitting .415 in the tournament.
