WICHITA, Kan.- The Wichita State women's golf team will head to Lawrence, Kan. to take part in the eighth annual Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational, September 24-25.
It is the second tournament of the season for the Shockers, as they competed in the Chip-N-Club Invitational two weeks ago. Senior Hannah Martin will look to continue her success from the Chip-N-Club, where she shot a three-round score of 230 (77-75-78), to finish in a tie for ninth place.
Joining Martin will be Natalie Samb, Madison Murphy, Bryce Schroeder, and senior Sarah Gilbert, who will be playing her first golf tournament as a Shocker after spending last season on the track team.
The tournament will be played at Alvamar Golf course, which is a par-72, 6,636-yard championship course. Joining the Shockers will be Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Florida Gulf Coast, Illinois State, Kansas, Kansas State, Middle Tennessee State, New Mexico State, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Oral Roberts and UMKC.
After a practice round on Sunday, the tournament begins Monday with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. The teams will play 36 holes. The final round starts Tuesday at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
