WICHITA, Kan. - Senior Emily Adney is the WSU Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 24, 2012.
Adney led the Shockers to a 2-0 record including Missouri Valley Conference wins over Evansville and Southern Illinois. Adney averaged 4.17 kills, 0.33 aces, 3.83 digs, 1.17 blocks and 5.08 points per set while hitting .362 on the left side.
In the sweep over the Aces, she had nine kills, one assist, one ace, 11 digs and four blocks. In the match, she became the 11th player in Shocker history to record 1,000 kills in a career. In the sweep over the Salukis, she had a match-high 16 kills on 33 swings without an error and hit .485. She also added three assists, one ace, 12 digs and three blocks. It was her fifth double-double of the season.
