TULSA, Okla.- Freshman Tin Ostojic fought his way into the third round of the pre-qualifying bracket, as the Wichita State men's tennis team started the ITA Men's All-American Championships on Saturday.
After his bye in the first round, the Zagreb, Croatia native defeated the seeded Jordan Szabo of Texas A&M, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3. He will take on Dmytro Kovolyav from the University of Hawaii in the third round on Sunday.
Sophomore Erick Reyes defeated Behzad Minavi of Texas A&M in the his first round contest, 7-6, 6-0, but then lost his second round matchup to John Harrison-Richmond of Virginia, 6-4, 6-2. Fellow sophomores Tomislav Gregurovic and Alvaro Gutierrez also fell in the second round.
If Ostojic is able to win a potential fourth round contest on Sunday, he will join teammates Matheus Pereira and Guillermo Nicol in the qualifying rounds, which start Oct. 1.
