WICHITA, Kan.  --  Wichita State's men's basketball team kicked off the first official day of team practice with a two-hour session that started at 5 p.m., in preparation for the 2012-13 season.

Wichita State is led by two players who contributed as starters a year ago in senior forward Carl Hall and senior guard Demetric Williams from a team that went 27-6 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Wichita State is also coming off its two winningest seasons in history with a 29-8 record and the NIT Postseason Championship in 2010-11, and the 27-6 record that included the 2012 MVC regular-season title and an NCAA berth in the Portland, Oregon Regional.

Hall started 19-of-33 games a year ago, averaging 8.4 points and 5.0 rebounds, while Williams started 23-of-33 games, averaging 5.5 points and 2.1 assists. Senior seven-foot center Ehimen Orukpe and sophomores Jake White and Tekele Cotton also return after significant time off the bench in 2012-13.

The Shockers open the exhibition season Nov. 5 against Pittsburg State before opening the regular season Nov. 10 against North Carolina Central. Both games are 7 p.m. starts inside Charles Koch Arena.

In addition, several men's basketball game times have been finalized since the release of the schedule, which can be viewed here.

The only three remaining times to be announced are the game at Tennessee, which is in television negotiation; the Bracketbuster Series game, which will be announced in January; and the potential MVC Wildcard television game March 2, which will be announced Feb. 8.

Season tickets are on sale now in the Shocker Ticket Office, or by calling 316/978-3267.
