WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita State volleyball team was swept at home tonight by Missouri Valley Conference rival Northern Iowa on "Jam the Gym" night inside Charles Koch Arena. The Panthers won by scores of 25-23, 25-19, and 25-19.

In front of a season high 5,812 fans, the Shockers fell into an early, 7-12, hole in the night's first set. The two teams then traded points with Wichita State (16-5, 9-2) never closing the gap to fewer than three points until an Ashlyn Driskill service ace sandwiched between a pair of kills from junior Sam Sanders made the score 19-21. The Shockers narrowed the Northern Iowa (19-6, 10-1) lead to one before Kelsey Degeest's kill ended the first set and the Shockers comeback attempt. Sanders finished the set with a team-high five kills.

The second set picked up right where the first left off as neither team generated a lead greater than two points until Macy Ubben's kill gave the Panthers a, 12-9, lead. The Shockers got no closer than four points the rest of the way as UNI won three of the final four points to take the set, 25-19. Sanders again led the way for Wichita State picking up five more kills.

Wichita State jumped out to a, 4-1, lead to start the third set with two kills from Ashley Andrade and another from Sanders. The Panthers then responded with a, 7-0, run of their own to take a, 8-4, lead.  It was a lead they would not relinquish. Wichita State got to within four at 20-16 before UNI scored five of the final eight points to secure the victory.

Sanders finished with 12 kills for Wichita State. Chelsey Feekin added 25 assists, seven kills and five digs.

Wichita State will finish their brief two-game Koch Arena home stand tomorrow evening at 7 p.m. against Bradley.
