  • The Wichita State women's basketball team (20-13, 12-6 MVC) faces NCAA Division II Harding University (18-11, 9-7 GAC) in the Shockers' first exhibition game of the year.
  1. With last year's WNIT victory over Oral Roberts, Wichita State tied the school record of 20 wins, acheived in 1999-2000 and 1980-81. WSU had already won 17+ games in three straight seasons for the first time and own the highest 3-year win total (55) in program history.

  2. The Shockers made the WNIT for the second-straight year and for the fourth time in school history.  WSU posted its first-ever WNIT victory vs. Oral Roberts (79-57 at Koch Arena).

  3. Jessica Diamond became the 18th Shocker (and 2nd last season with Haleigh Lankster) to reach 1,000 points for her career when she scored 12 vs. UNI in the regular season finale.  The last WSU teammates to reach 1,000 points were Angela Buckner (1,382) and Carlesa Dennis (1,121) in 2003-04. Diamond enters the year 17th on WSU's all-time scoring list with 1,060 points.

  4. The Shockers made the WNIT for the second-straight year and for the fourth time in school history.  WSU posted its first-ever WNIT victory vs. Oral Roberts (79-57 at Koch Arena).
  5.
  6. Harding University returns the bulk of a team that won 18 games and made a run to the Great American Conference championship game last year.  The Lady Bisons were picked to win the GAC in the league's preseason poll and feature first team all-conference performer Kristen Celsor (13.5 ppg, 6.1 rpg), GAC Freshman of the Year Montana Lewis (9.2 ppg, 5.2 rpg) and GAC All-Tournament Team member Arielle Saunders (20.0 ppg, 11.7 rpg in GAC Tournament).

  7. Harding next plays Oral Roberts, the team WSU defeated in the WNIT last year.  Harding played MVC member Missouri State in its first exhibition last season, falling 88-56, as the Lady Bears hit 10 three-pointers and received 23 points each from Casey Garrison and Jaleshia Roberson.

  8. The Shockers play two exhibition games for the first time since 2004-05.  Last year WSU defeated Pittsburg State, 65-48 behind a stifling defense that held Pitt. St. to 28% shooting.

  9. Head Coach Jody Adams enters the season with 68 victories at WSU.  She needs four more to rank second on WSU's career wins list.  She currently owns the highest winning percentage of any Shocker WBB coach and already has recorded the most career post-season victories.
