WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State utility player Cody Lassley is out indefinitely after undergoing an emergency appendectomy Wednesday evening, head coach Gene Stephenson announced today.
Lassley, a sophomore from Wichita, Kan., has played in eight of the Shockers’ 11 games this season and has started six, four as the designated hitter and two at catcher.
“It’s very unfortunate for Cody and the team because he is such a big part of our program,” Stephenson said. “We’re just hoping for a quick and full recovery and look forward to the day he is back in the lineup.”
Lassley is the second Shocker player to undergo an emergency appendectomy this season. Junior pitcher Anthony Capra had surgery on Feb. 23 and made his first appearance of the season on March 9.
