Fall World Series Dates Announced

WICHITA, Kan. – The annual Wichita State baseball Fall World Series will begin on Sat., Oct. 17, at Eck Stadium. The series will last until Wed., Oct. 28.
There will also be two bonus intrasquad games this weekend, Oct. 10-11. The Sat., Oct. 10 game will begin at 3:30 p.m., while the Sun., Oct. 11 game will begin at 2 p.m.
The Shocker roster will be divided into two teams, the Black and the Gold. One will be coached by 18th-year assistant coach Jim Thomas and the other by first-year volunteer assistant Brandon Hall. The rosters will be announced at a later date.
The Black squad won the 2008 Fall World Series in seven games.
Kyle Sisney led the Black squad with a .478 average with seven runs and two doubles, while Justin Kemp pitched 7.1 innings with a 1.23 ERA.
Will Baez led the Gold squad with a .429 average with three doubles, a home run, eight RBI and six stolen bases, while Tim Kelley pitched 11 innings with a 0.82 ERA.
Admission to each game of the Fall World Series is a can of food for the Kansas Food Bank.
